At Shea Stadium the New York (NL) Mets were battered 9 to 4 by the streaking
Philadelphia Phillies.

crucial at-bat was provided by Brett Myers who quieted the home crowd when he
laced a base-hit which was good for two runs.  New York (NL) was out-hit by
Philadelphia, 12 hits to 8.  
 
The winning pitcher was Myers(3-0) who allowed 4 runs in 8 innings. The loss
was charged to Tom Glavine(2-1).  He was touched for 10 hits and 4 walks in 6
and 1/3 innings.
