Strat-O-Matic Report

The first shutout for either the Sox or Phils almost goes to Bronson Arroyo, but after walking 2 in the 9th and his pitch count into the 120's, Embree comes in to get 2 lefties and ends up with a save. Jason Johnson, the Tigers starter, had only 5 strikeouts in 20 something innings for the season, and of course gets 8 K's! He doesn't even have a strikeout on his pitching card!! I don't know if you have noticed it too, but the Sox definitely strike out a lot.

Arroyo contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn't give up much, just 5
hits and 3 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings. Boston finished with 7 hits in the
victory.

Alan Embree earned his 1st save. Johnson suffered the loss. He gave up 4
