June 18, 2005 Pirates 2, Red Sox 0

Strat-O-Matic Report

Tim Wakefield only allows one earned run in 8 1/3 innings, but gets the tough luck loss. Despite 4 of the Sox 7 hits being doubles and 3 walks and a hit batter, they could not poke any runs across against 3 Pirate pitchers. Only one close was Manny, who got thrown out at home trying to score. Of note is ex-Sox Freddy Sanches, whose .369 batting average currently leads the National League. Why can't the Sox get players like that?? LOL
