In a close game it was the Philadelphia Phillies 9, the New York (NL) Mets 7
at Shea Stadium.

In the 2nd inning Philadelphia went on top for good scoring a single run
utilizing 2 base hits. Cory Lidle(10-4) got relief help from Billy Wagner
who was excellent in relief and gained credit for his 21st save.

Kazuhisa Ishii(4-6) suffered the loss. He was unable to control the
Philadelphia offense and allowed 7 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.

'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Charlie Manual said after the game. 'Lidle did not have command
of his pitches most of the night, but he proved he really knew how to pitch!'
