July 17, 2005 Red Sox 11, Yankees 7

Strat-O-Matic Report

This was the long ball game, with 8 homeruns between the two teams. After having their 9 game winning streak snapped the previous game, the Sox start a new one in convincing fashion. Nice spread around offense, as every player on the team had at least one hit and scored at least one run, and all but Mirabelli and Damon had at least one RBI. Wakefield, after beginning to run out of gas in the 5th, was denied the win by not going 5 innings. If you ask me, Schilling should have got the win as until Sheffield hit a 2-run homer in the 9th off him, he was doing great in long relief. Instead, the win goes to Embree who faces one batter.
